Fox News calls Michelle Obama “Obama baby mama”

Fox News which many in the African American Community consider racist has taken it’s attacks on Michelle Obama to a whole new level. On a broadcast on 06/11/08 they refereed to Michelle Obama as “Obama Baby Mama”. Don’t take my word for it look at the picture below on which they use the term in their on air graphic.

So much for fair and balanced. There is no way even the racist leaning Fox producers and host did not know this was wrong. I mean just dead wrong. Maybe a bunch of elitist white producers thought they were being hip or cool but calling Michelle Obama a “baby’s mama” is uncalled for. Especially for what is supposed to be a professional news organization.

For those that think it’s just a joke or that baby mama is a term of endearment let me define Baby’s Mama.

A baby’s mama is just some girl that a guy gets pregnant. Just some girl he had sex with. This person is no one he wants to be with or marry. If he had been a thinking with the right head there is no way in hell he would have gotten her pregnant. If a guy would refers to a woman as a baby’s mama it shows he does not have much respect for her.

Michelle Obama is a lot more than that. She is far from any damned baby’s mama. She could well be the next first lady of the United States and should be treated with the dignity and respect she has earned. She should be given the respect that ANY women should be given regardless of her place in society.

Leave it to Fox News to keep giving traction to those that believe they are anything but fair and balanced. Can anyone name another cable news outlet where this would have been acceptable?

White parents & issues with adopting black children

Many black children are adopted by white parents and both parties find out that even in today’s society it’s not easy. Now some believe that white parents should be educated on dealing with black children before being allowed to adopt them. Besides the fact that at the moment that’s illegal it would lead to even less black children being adopted as it would add another hurdle to an already cumbersome  process. BET struggling to attract black viewers

Over 25 years after it’s founding BET is having trouble attracting an African American audience. Many have stopped watching the channel due to the lack of an actual news show and because of all the booty shaking videos. Black family greeted by racism

In Metairie Louisiana it took less than one week for a black family moving into a predominantly white neighborhood to be greeted by racism. Someone burned the letters KKK into their front yard. NBC News addresses concerns about black women series

NBC News which has been running a great series about African American Women on it’s Nightly News broadcast has put out a response regarding two of the biggest complaints about the series.

#1 The shortness of the stories which I will say is an issue. Longer versions of the stories are available at their web site. Let’s hope they combine the stories and add more footage for a cable television special.

#2 The bashing of black men. I don’t think this is really an issue but I guess some do.

Are Democrats taking the black vote for granted

Now it’s bad enough that the Republicans have all but conceded they want get the African American Vote and are not even trying to get their message to African Americans. It’s also sad especially when have some very  conservative that the Republicans could play to.
