I’ve now spent far too much time trying to find out what the selection criteria were in the DC firings situation. Maybe it was fair, and maybe it was not. It seems that we are asked to take a stance without knowing the facts.

For the non-performance firings: I have read about the five evaluations — which seems fair enough. I also read about an “improvement” in test scores for K-8 teachers — which also seems fair. Apparently there were at least 3 other measures used.

I have nothing to say in defense of the non-certified teachers. Why didn’t they just get certified?

If you have any information on the total picture of the measures used, it would be very helpful.

    Thank you,
    Mr. Nick
